Alaap (Alor Utsav, Shobar Utsav)

The Xavier’s College Alumni Association had been on a break for two years due to the pandemic’s foreshadowing. However, now is the time to change that. The alums are back with its event Alaap, held on the 22nd of October, 2022.

Alaap- Alor Utsav, Shobar Utsav. The event was held at St. Teresa, Lakurdi, where we met older people with some mental illness or TB. The main concern of the event was lighting up the lives of people who lost their own in the complexities of life.

Some alum members spent some time with the elderly and sisters living there. We sang songs, danced and talked a lot. We all shared that light inside us with each other.

The biggest thing we could give them was our time and some joy. However, we did also manage to provide them with some things. We provided them with 50kgs of rice and 5kgs of sugar donated by two of our members. We also gave them two sacks of potatoes, 5 litres of cooking oil, cakes, biscuits, a few ludo boards and a Saregama Carvaan Mini. We will forever be grateful to the XCAAB members who have donated to make this possible.

Watching them laugh, sing and dance their griefs away gave us all an immense feeling of peace and stability. We were looking for this when we first started planning the event. None of this would have been possible without the blessings of our President, Rev. Fr. Dr. G. Paul Arockiam, S.J. and the guidance of Sir Vishal Maheshwari. We would also be indebted to our XCAAB members and core committee for making the event a huge hit. Thank you for everyone’s efforts and blessings to make this Diwali bright.

Transformational leaders are, Jesuit educated.

The pursuit of each student’s intellectual development to the full measure of God-given talents rightly remains a prominent goal of Jesuit education. This goal of Jesuit education is based on sound understanding and enlivened by contemplation, urges students to self-discipline and initiative, to integrity and accuracy.

Xavier’s College Alumni Association of Burdwan (XCAAB) is the official alumni body of St. Xavier’s College, Burdwan founded in the year of 2017. Our association has been established to string a chord with the people of Burdwan and uplift the Jesuit flag of promoting people’s welfare and service. The Jesuit institutions have their own elegance and grace. St. Ignatius of Loyola and St. Francis Xavier were the two enigmatic personalities who worked tirelessly for the good of the world. It is for them that only people are getting standard education throughout the world. After the completion of golden jubilee (50 years) of St. Xavier’s School Burdwan, it was a vision of the St. Xavier’s Jesuit Community of Burdwan that a college building will be built beside the school campus. The college opened its doors for the students from the year 2014. The institution has not only given bookish knowledge but also taught everyone the philosophy of life, how one can outclass and outperform others in his/her everyday life. The institution teaches the students the essence of fraternity.

St. Xavier’s College Burdwan started with 6 departments and the first batch of the College passed out in March 2017, they took the initiative of forming an alumni association that will keep the Ex-students of the College under an umbrella and they will never lose contact. This was actually the brainchild of Reverend Father Dr. G. Paul Arockiam, S.J., Principal of St. Xavier’s College & President of XCAAB. Not to trust in his vision and not to agree to his proposal, would have been a no-brainer for everyone.  The inauguration ceremony of XCAAB took place on 10th June 2018. This organization received a lot of appreciation and acclaim from all fields. All the members, present in the meeting unanimously gave their consent regarding the outcome of the event by agreeing to the astounding success it had garnered. The event was graced by the august presence of some of the distinguished guests of the Xaverian Alumni network both nationally and worldwide.

Drop us a line

Now it is the duty of each and every individual associated with XCAAB, directly or indirectly to carry forward the legacy of the association and continue its victory march.
